West Dunbartonshire Libraries welcomes ‘Bookbug’
On the 30th of June 2010, West Dunbartonshire welcomed the arrival of ‘Bookbug’, Scottish Book Trust’s new Early Years programme. The programme was formerly known as ‘Bookstart in Scotland’. The core format of the programme in West Dunbartonshire will stay the same – the gifting of FREE packs of books for babies, toddlers, 3 year olds and Primary 1 pupils, FREE rhymes, songs and story Bookbug Sessions (formerly Bookstart Rhymetimes) and FREE Library challenge (formerly Bookstart Bookcrawl). There have been a number of exciting new benefits introduced – bespoke packs for Scotland, improved parental guidance and information, improved logistics and a greener programme all under a brand new Scottish identity created by Scottish Illustrator Debi Gliori.

Scottish Book Trust have also launched a new website, full of tips, advice and information. Over 150 babies, toddlers and their parents/carers helped us celebrate Bookbug’s arrival in Dumbarton Burgh Hall.
