Thursday 19th of May was the first ever Bookbug Day. The theme this year was ‘The Great Outdoors’ unfortunately the weather was against us but we still had a lot of fun indoors at the Gateway Centre at Loch Lomond Shores. Over 40 children and grown ups came along to join in with singing, face painting, games and a teddy bears picnic.

This pack is gifted through Health visitors to babies aged 6-16 weeks. Parents/carers can also pick up this pack from their local Library.

This pack is gifted to all 3-year olds through West Dunbartonshire nurseries and nursery classes. Children who do not attend nursery can pick up this pack from their local Library.

• Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson
• Mrs Pirate by Nick Sharratt
• 4 Bookbug postcards
• Bookbug pencil case containing pencil, coloured pencils and pencil sharpener
• Parent’s guide magazine

Previously known as Bookstart Rhymetimes. West Dunbartonshire’s Bookbug sessions are FUN, FREE story, song and rhyme sessions for children aged up to 4 years and their parents/carers.

These fun, relaxed 30-40 minute Bookbug sessions are a great extension to the Bookbug pack gifting programme, passing on the Bookbug message throughout West Dunbartonshire and Scotland.

New Session

Parkhall Library

From 16th January 2012, the Parkhall session will be weekly. The weekly sessions run from 10:00 am till 10:45 am.

A Storysack is a large cloth bag containing children's books with soft toys and props that can be used with your child to bring books to life.

With over 30 to choose from Storysacks can be requested and collected from any library.

Ask at your local library for more details.

Pam Wardell set up her company Books Alive in 2006- offering nurseries, primary and special schools, libraries and festivals drama and performance workshops- after many years working in radio production, creating audio books and drama.

Pam recently visited Gavinburn and Ladyton libraries where local nursery children were all inspired to go ‘on a bear hunt’.
