	These sites are really useful for homework: BBC Schools Lots of Websites to help you with different school topics, whether you are at Primary or Secondary school. The information is organised by school level then by topic. Click here to go to 'BBC Scotland Learning' GridClub A great Website for 7-11 year olds with lots of games and activities. You can access this site from any West Dunbartonshire Library. Click here to go to the 'GridClub' website North Ayrshire A collection of excellent Websites covering the most popular topics studied in Primary and Secondary schools in Scotland. All the Websites are arranged by school level then by topic so the site is easy to use. Click here to go to the North Ayrshire Education Resource Service Homework High Homework help for 11-16 year olds from Channel 4. They reckon they can answer any homework question you might have, so why not put them to the test? Click here to go to the 'Homework High' website Topmarks This site is particularly strong on resources and advice relevant to primary school children. Homework Help

The following websites are a good place to begin looking for something on the Internet:

	Yahooligans Search the web with Yahoo! designed especially for kids. Make use of their excellent selection of websites for homework or just for fun. Websites are organised by topic so you can find what you’re looking for easily.
	KidsClick! This has a massive collection of excellent websites on every topic imaginable. KidsClick! is especially good for helping you research topics or projects you might have for homework.
	Cybersleuth More websites listed by topic. Another great resource for homework, and also for music, films, computers and great clip art.

Online Encyclopaedias

Try these websites when you are starting a new school project. They are quick and really easy to use.

	Britannica Junior Here you will find links to an online encyclopaedia called Britannica Junior. It is free to use by anyone with a West Dunbartonshire library card. You will need to enter your library card number in the log-in box if you want to access them from home. For 5 – 11 year olds.
	Britannica Student Here you will find links to an online encyclopaedia called Britannica Student. It is free to use by anyone with a West Dunbartonshire library card. You will need to enter your library card number in the log-in box if you want to access them from home. For 12 – 18 year olds.
	Wikipedia Wikepidia is an easy-to-use, online encyclopaedia. You can find information about almost anything here, but be careful! Content can be added and edited by any visitor to the site, so you might need to check the accuracy of some of the articles.

Reading

	Cool Reads Book recommendations for 11-15 year olds, written by 11-15 year olds. If you don’t know what to read next, this is the site for you!
	Stories from the Web Find out the current most popular books for your age, as well as reading about some of your favourite authors. You can also write a book review and post it on the web!
	Mrs Mad’s Book-A-Rama Mrs Mad is a huge fan of reading, so you will really like the books she recommends!

Writing

	Bookbox Read about where authors get ideas and inspiration for their books. The Writers Toolkit will get you started writing yourself!
	Blast Loads of great information on how to write – not just stories but scripts, radio trails and comedies amongst other things. Read about how some of today’s most popular writers have got to where they are, and share some advice with other budding writers.
