Artemis Fowl

Mastermind teenage criminal and anti-hero, Artemis Fowl, is a complex character to figure out – is he the villain or is he not quite as bad as he’d have you think..? This series of books sees Artemis involved in a succession of dangerous missions to achieve his goal of re-establishing the family fortunes. Trapped by Monsters

Trapped by Monsters

I just discovered this brilliant website set up by 8 authors from the UK who like writing about monsters and reading about them too. The site has been set up to promote great books and encourage reading. The team of authors, David Melling, Mark Robson, Ali Sparkes , Joe Craig, Andy Briggs, Tommy Donbavand, Barry Hutchison and Sam Enthoven, claim they have been captured by the very monsters they write about… “Now the monsters – tired of being ridiculed, abused and slaughtered for the entertainment of children – are forcing the authors to blog about brilliant books, post exclusive stories and give away secret writing tips in return for food, toilet roll and the freedom to visit the occasional school, library or bookshop”.

If you like scary stories, fun stuff and want to read about how the captive authors are trying to escape from their monster kidnappers then click on the link below. You’ll also find great book suggestions, weird and wonderful illustrations, links to great videos, articles on legendary monsters and heaps more!

Mr Men

Do you love Mr Men and Little Miss? We do too… and as well as borrowing the hilarious series of books from the library, we like to talk about which characters are the best or most like ourselves – some might say I’m like Mr Messy but I prefer to think of myself as Little Miss Perfect! If you love Mr Men then why not check out the Mr Men site where you can meet loads of the characters, watch videos about them and play games…

Lemony Snicket

Lemony Snicket

The mysterious Mr Snicket has written 12 books about the dire tales that surround the lives of orphaned Baudelaire children.

Even though he’s warned us not to read his alarming books and find something cheerful to do instead, we couldn’t resist reading each new volume in the hope that it might, at last have a happy ending for Violet, Klaus and Sunny.

If you’re fascinated by A Series of Unfortunate Events then you should investigate the Lemony Snicket website – but beware it contains some terrible things; Vile Videos about the books and the author, Dire Diversions including quizzes and e-cards, bewildering information about The Afflicted Author and The Ill-Fated Illustrator and even a free online edition of the first book, A Bad Beginning.

Click on the link below the site and don’t forget you can borrow Lemony Snicket’s books from our libraries.

However if you’re not afraid of things that go bump in the night and the thought of a headless horseman doesn’t make you faint, then you’ll love these scary stories.

You can also go to the Goosebumps website to play ghoulish games, write on the Goosebumps message board and watch spooky clips from the Goosebumps TV show. Click on the link below if you dare!
